When: Sunset, 8 pm Thursday 8/27/26
Where: Sundial Hill at Battle Point Observatory
Lunar eclipses happen on the rare occasions when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are in alignment and the Moon passes through Earth’s shadow. After this week, the next one won't occur until just before dawn on New Year's Eve 12/31/28. And after that, the next ones visible in the Pacific Northwest will be on 6/26/29 and 12/20/29, followed by a long dry spell until 4/25/32.
This Wednesday during the Concert in the Park, our mini-planetarium shows will feature a visualization of this eclipse from a vantage point out in space! Take a break from the music and check it out! Then come back for the real thing on Thursday!
