Join us at Battle Point Observatory Saturday, September 13th at 7 pm for another riveting Second Saturday Science Talk!
September Topic: Celestial Navigation through the Ages
Speaker: Frank Petrie, BPAA President
Did you like last month’s talk on Measuring the Night Sky, and want to know more about the ancient navigators that crossed oceans using mental maps of the stars? Or, perhaps you missed last month and also want to see a free showing of a young girl’s journey through history in The Navigators (which we purchased thanks to our donors last year)? Well, either way, we have a treat for you! Our very own Frank Petrie, BPAA President, will be telling us all about celestial navigation, from ancient seafaring peoples to modern day applications.
After the talk, stick around for a planetarium show and, if the weather holds, a Star Party. Whether you're a seasoned stargazer or just beginning to look up, there's something for everyone. All experience levels welcome.
Registration required, open to the community and to BPAA Members.
Limited to 30 people, sign up now!
Free Admission, $10 suggested donation but any amount appreciated
If you can't attend in person, you may register to hear the talk on Zoom: Register here for Zoom
