Educator Sessions at the Planetarium

Are you an educator working on your STEAM curriculum for the 2026-2027 school year? You're invited to our special Educator Sessions this summer! Join our Programming Coordinator for a first-hand experience of all that the Battle Point Observatory has to offer. We'll tour the building, showcase the planetarium's many capabilities, and workshop ideas for how to integrate a field trip to the observatory into your lesson plans.

Drop by Battle Point Observatory for a Planetarium Show! Learn what's up in the night sky and get a peek inside the historic Observatory. Shows offered today at 12:30 pm and again at 2:30 pm. Content is flexible based on audience interest, common topics include constellations, planets, seasons, and astronomy history.

Open to the community, $10/adult and $5/child tickets (+ tax) available at the door. $5 discount for BPAA Members!

To ensure the quality of the show, there is no admittance once the planetarium door is closed.

Planetarium is wheelchair accessible with advance notice.

Star Party (20 Jun 2026)

Drop by starting 9:00 pm at Battle Point Observatory for an outdoor community Star Party! We'll have telescopes out and volunteer astronomers on hand. Bring your own telescope if you have one. Layer up, as it gets chilly after dark. Telescopes onsite until around midnight (possibly later depending on group interest).

NOTE: if the skies do not cooperate, event is canceled. If you've registered, we'll let you know if the event is off.

Theme: Black Holes & Dark Matter

Featuring BPAA Artist in Residence, Deborah Milton

Join Battle Point Observatory's Artist in Residence Deborah Milton for this always popular event! No art experience needed.

Inspired by a planetarium show, you will shed expectations as you learn to paint intuitively and playfully with acrylics on an 11” x 14” canvas suitable for framing. The group's camaraderie will put you at ease and you will probably be surprised, maybe even awed, by your own creative expression!

Advance registration required, limited to 14 adults.

Event Fee $50 + tax (includes supplies)

$10 discount until June 13th for BPAA Members!

and join the "Grand Old Fourth of July" celebration!

Enjoy Bainbridge Island's big 4th of July parade and find our booth downtown! The Street Fair is a one-day only summer market in the T&C parking lot and along Bjune Drive, with as many as 100 vendor booths featuring food, entertainment, retail and information. BPAA astronomers and staff will be on hand to share information about the Battle Point Observatory, demonstrate our solar telescope, and talk about all things astronomical!
